Booking an Appointment

For Rotherfield, telephone 01892 853288.

For the Brook Health Centre, telephone 01892 652255.

The appointments lines are open from 8.00 to 11.30am and from 2.30 to 5.00pm. Please try to book your appointments during these times, as we have more staff on duty to answer your calls. Wherever possible, please try not to telephone until after 10.00am, as this will allow those patients with an acute clinical need for an appointment on the day greater opportunity of contacting the surgery.

If you are unable to attend please cancel your appointment so we can give the time to someone else.

Remember, an appointment is for one person only and only that person will be seen.

Try not to save up multiple problems for one appointment. If you feel you need a longer appointment time then please discuss this with the receptionist who may be able to offer you a double appointment.

Appointments are always available on the day for the sudden onset of illness. However, minor ailments such as coughs, colds, sore throats, nappy rash etc and ongoing problems are not classified as medically urgent.

If you are late for your appointment, it will be at the Doctor’s/Nurse’s discretion whether you will be required to rebook.

Our Appointment System

You may express a preference to receive services, either generally or in relation to a specific condition, from any of the doctors or practice nurses. Such expression of preference must be made in advance of the relevant appointment(s). However, this may be dependent upon availability of appointment, the nature of the condition or the urgency of the problem, in which case you may be asked to see an alternative doctor or practice nurse.

As we have two sites, you may be seen in either surgery. We will make the arrangements for transferring any information we may need for your consultation.

You may be asked to give an outline of your problem when booking an appointment. This is so that the Doctor can triage your record and reason before you attend, if appropriate. It also helps the Receptionist to give you the most suitable appointment. It may be that another health care professional can see you for your problem, or an appointment may not be necessary.

What is triage?

The doctor reviews the reason for your request and decides if you need to attend the surgery or if he can deal in any other way. This is usually effective if you for example suffer intermittently with an acute problem for which the doctor usually gives you medication.

On The Day Appointments

These appointments are for acute clinical needs, such as the sudden onset of illness, pain or rash infections. They are NOT for reviews, medication requests, or sickness certificates.

Future Appointments

Each Doctor has appointments that may be booked in advance for the review of ongoing problems. These appointments do tend to get booked quickly.

Evening / Weekend Appointments

Extended Hours surgeries on Monday Evenings, Wednesday Mornings & Saturday Mornings (once a month) are available specifically for those patients who are unable to attend the surgery during our normal weekday hours.  These surgeries are for PRE-BOOKED ROUTINE appointments ONLY and the Practice Reception and Telephone Services will NOT be available.

Please see the surgery timetable on this page for details of opening times.
